Proficiency 1
I can analyze galaxies and the differences between galaxies. I will compare the Milky Way Galaxy to other types of galxies.

Authors note: I used animoto. Animoto is difficult to use since there is a word limit. Also at first I didn't know how to save it. And with my bibliography there were two more sites that I used on the same website that I couldn't use because internet wouldn't let the page come up due to a problem loading the page. Also it wouldn't let me have a hanging indent on my bibliography.

Proficiency 2
I can identify key technological advancements that helped in making our knowledge of space expand. My research will show the past, but I will also predict what future advancements may stretch our limits even more.

Proficiency 3
I can research the history of constellations. My research will delve into the stories and the myths associated with each constellation. I will create my own constellation either changing the story of a real constellation or creating one on my own.

Constellations are groups of stars that make a figure in the sky. After found in the sky they are given a name. This started around 4000 B.C. by the sumerians.

There are 88 constelations but here are just a few

Name: Orion
Date of Discovery: December 7th 1981
Description: Orion was well known for his great hunting all around a place in Greece cakked Boeotia. He was sent to do a difficult task by the king. If he could do the task the reward would be his daoughter, the princess. The task was to get rid of all of the beasts and monsters. However the king didn't want him to marry his daughter so he kept on making him kill many more monsters and beast. It came to a point that he just gave up.

Name: Uras major and Uras Minor
Date of Discovery:Both on Januray 22, 1982
Description: Zeus, the father of the Greek Gods, began to become fall in love with a new woman named Kallisto. Zeuses wife began to get jealous of all the time that he was spending with Kallisto so she turned her into a bear. Many years after that Kallisto's son, Arktos, was hunting in the woods and came across a bear. It happend to be Kallisto without him knowing it. Right when he was about to shoot the bear Zeus came and threw both of them in the sky so they could be together. He called Kallisto Uras Major (or called the Great Bear) and Arktos, Ursa Minor (or called the little bear).

My own Constelation:
My constellation is called “Acortimis.” Acortimis is a constellation that is shaped like an eye and is always staring at you. It got its name by the one eyed man, Acortimis. Acortimis was a famous Tamesmian soldier in the Italy civil war. He single handedly killed three fourths of the Othians (the opponent) and was the main reason why the outnumbered Tamesmians won over the Othians. To give him respect they put his one eye in the sky so that he is always remembered. Also his eye represents protection over the Tamesmians as they sleep for he is there eyes when they are closed.

Authors note:
To display my information I wrote paragraphs with all the info that I learned. There really wan't too much difficulty when doing this project expet for the fact that I couldn't put haning indents into my Bibliography.

Proficiency 4
I can analyze the origins of our solar system. Starting with the sun, my research will emphasize how our solar system formed, the differences between inner planets and outer planets, and analyze the future of our sun and the solar system.

Proficiency 5
I can effectively explain the different theories of the universe. I will discuss theories starting from Ancient Greece through the theories discussed in present day. I will analyze all theories and make a judgment based on my research on which is most valid.

Proficiency 6
I can analyze the differences between comets, asteroids, meteors and moons. I will research orbits and discuss differences of what we see from the Earth’s surface (phases). I will analyze the effect the moon’s orbit has on our planet. I will predict what would happen if Earth had a 2nd moon or the distance to the moon was increased or decreased.

MOON PHASES

The moon is constantly orbiting the Earth. It takes one month for the moon to go completely around the Earth. During that time the appearance of the moon changes from our eye on earth. It does this because the sun shines on it and from where we are on the earth we can’t always see it due to its rotation around the earth. Due to this the moon has phases.

BREAKING NEWS

There is now a second moon. It is a little smaller than the original moon, and is making everything at night brighter. So you may want to put on your sleeping masks if you are a sensitive sleeper. Scientist have researched and said that the new moon has an orbit that interferes with the original moon. Also the original moon has a slightly slower orbit than the original moon, so in a couple of years they will crash into each other. But don’t worry about any large pieces of the moon falling and hitting the earth. The moon move so slow that when they crashed it would be like you walking into a wall , nothing would happen to the wall but you might get a cut or bruise on your body depending where you were hit. In this case the moons are us walking into the wall and the earth is the wall. When I said that we might get a cut or bruise on our body the original moon will be hit and the new moon will push it forever.
For now the phases of the moon will be different since they are reflecting on the sun differently. Now there will be large tides in different areas. However when the new moon is pushing the original moon the tides will be twice as large, great and dangerous for all surf borders. You must be careful around the oceans now because the waves will be larger than usual.
So you will have to get use to a brighter night and more and eventually larger tides because of the new moon.
